Being able to buy stuff without moving.
Been able to watch films or listen to music without having a physical disc.
The ability to find out information on just about anything using google.

Sitting in a hotel at the minute, got a firestick plugged in ready to watch the footy ,booked a table online whilst reading this board on my phone(porn downloading in the background aswell)

Can't remember what it was like without the internet,i do remember waiting 30minutes on dial up to download from Napster though and not being able to use the landline

30 mins?!

Used to be DAYS to download a VCD over dialup then once it was finished a better copy would come out! Haha

I've been 'on line' one way or another since I was about 8/9? Utterly amazing how it's moved on!

Pipex, Demon, slow arse dialup modems. Bliss haha

The proposal, part of the digital economy bill, would force internet service providers to block sites hosting content that would not be certified for commercial DVD sale by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC).

In order to comply with the censorship rules, many mainstream adult websites would have to render whole sections inaccessible to UK audiences. That is despite the acts shown being legal for consenting over-16s to perform and for adults in almost all other liberal countries to film, distribute and watch

Pictures and videos that show spanking, whipping or caning that leaves marks, and sex acts involving urination, female ejaculation or menstruation as well as sex in public are likely to be caught by the ban – in effect turning back the clock on Britain’s censorship regime to the pre-internet era

While a lot in the law itself is stupid and drastic infringements of the rights of people in what is supposed to be a free country, is that work places and Universities do not count. A University is not an ISP, but in the UK thousands of student bedrooms are all connected. The law does not apply to these. While some may set a local policy, the hardware required and the work involved mounts to more than most places want to invest, so no censorship is applied. An 18 year old can view what they like while at Uni but have draconian censorship applied when returning home. That makes perfect sense Mrs May, well done.

Along with the monitoring of this law (which does not apply to MPs by the way), one of the really frustrating things is that there was no vocal opposition to it. We don't have an opposition to a tiny majorities crazy policies. What does that say about the state of politics in this country?

It's class like. Even just the fact that things work out the box now (mainly). Young uns will never know the horror of trying to get a printer to connect to a computer.

I remember trying to set up the ethernet at our uni house in 2001 so it would work on more than one computer. It took fuckin days

I go to New York on Thursday and I've already gotten my bearings thanks to Google street view and GTA IV
