I'd like some advice re: when cars are on the acceleration lane (slip road) approaching a road with 2+ carriageways. I always thought that when you're on the slip road approaching the carriageway that you alter your speed so that you can safely move onto the motorway/dual carriageway. Today I was on the 1st lane of the M1 and nearly got hit by a car entering the motorway. I couldn't stop or move into lane 2 as I'd have hit someone else. Should the driver approaching the motorway have altered their speed so that they moved onto the motorway when it was safe? Because it seems like a lot of drivers just carry on at the same speed and hope to find a gap.
