I can see this being his last big job. Another pay out here and he'll have a nice little retirement fund, topped up with the odd bit of sky punditry and a six month contract as the boss of the kuwait national team or summat.

If he was promised funds that did not materialise, which I doubt (after spending £30 m on rubbish) I would respect him more than I do now..,

You seriously believe that short has promised him x and only given him y?
This piffle about short not keeping promises re funds is unsubstantiated.
Every manager wants more than he is given.
Most dont bleat about it to the press
Notwithstanding he has utterly wasted 30m in any case.
