near the end that crowd reminded me of the old days.....more of it please lads.
it has been a long time coming, never heard it since oming to the Sol.
have had great atmospheres in the past but nothing to match the roker roar.
less people as well. i know this will open the whole stading debate,
but just because we are sitting down, why do we let this stop us?
some folk barely male a noise, once one group starts, then one end will be jumping then the whole ground. we are the twelve man, lets make ourselves count.
I was stuck in the south of France today but called one of my lads in the ground and had to hang up .... couldn't hear a thing.
yes the reception's shite in the ground
It was like that against Arsenal and Man City as well
The noise towards the end was hellish. Fuck me if we'd scored they would of heard about it in the Bigg market...
Absolute pleasure to watch that game of football. Chuffed to bits with how well the team played.
The noise that started to build up towards the end was fantastic. Really wish we had scored (obviously) because the fucking roof would have came off
Glad it was loud. Our lasses boy was at the game with a busload of lads and lasses from Bathgate academy. They were there for the first time last season for the man City game as it was the closest premier league ground to them. I thought this season they may have went to sid james, but no, the sol it was. :-D
Aside from the standing issue, I think the groups of fans wanting to lift the atmosphere are too spread out. I'm not advocating a 'singing area' but perhaps if some of the fans who wanted to raise the atmosphere were closer to the established areas (such as the SWC) then the collective noise made would spread further round the ground.
Was just think about the Roker Roar today. We were fantasic, so proud of the teams effort, and the fans. HA'WAY!!!
I've got no voice left like
Well, I am 40 years old and remember Roker Park well, but I have to say I disagree with you, some of the noise made at the SoL has been way above anything i experienced, with the possible exception of the promotion game against West Ham in 1980 and the Gorden Armstoron goal against Chelsea in the 92 cup run.
The first time we played the mags up here under Keane was up there with the best of them, and although I loved Roker Park, I cant say I really miss it.
This thread will be full of chav soon claiming singing about mini buses was re-creating the Roker Roar whilst showing a total lack of understanding as to what the roar was.
Disagree apart from end of game.
Thought the 1700 Mancs were very vocal in comparison to us
Think you have a point mate. Although I started going 79 and was old enough to go with me mates 86......so the Roker Roar may have been a pre 80s thing. The atmosphere at Roker wasn't great in my time but then we were shite. Tottenham first game back in the top flight was impressive....but the best in my years was the play off home leg....and it's an atmosphere I haven't experienced at SOL or any other ground....about 5 minutes before kick off it was electric....over used word...but it really was fuckin' electric that day..
Best day at the SOL....Newcastle 2-2...when we were 2 down....hadn't played them for a while...
I think you're wrong Bob. If you're referring to Roker Park with over 50,000 people in it then you have a point. But for the most part the SoL is a different class, even more so this season.
But when we won 2-1 it was better than that.
Eh??? We outchanted Man Utd all game today. They hardly showed up. A very poor support from them today, similar to last season.
The SWC were fantastic yet again.
Not quite ...but were getting there1
Your fucking joking. The 1700 Mancs made more noise than the choirboys in SWC.
I think he's talking about the crowd in general mate. And it was good
Man U were a lot louder than the SWC when they were chanting/singing but for constant chanting/singing SWC were better
Separate names with a comma.
