from Football 365 -
The striker has had 31 touches of the ball in his last two games against lower-half opposition; 16% of those have been to take kick-offs.
about time we appointed another KO specialist to let JD concentrate all his efforts into scoring. Need a specialist ballboy anarl to pick the ball out of the back of the net for JP so he can keep his back fit for saves and cutting out crosses.
How come none of our managers have thought of these simple fixes before ;)
fecking hell what a mess we are in!

I'm surprised he's still trying as much as he is. Testament to himself as a professional because being as isolated as he is, a lesser person would just be going through the motions by now.

That stat in isolation is meaningless. I remember the match against Swansea last year when he touched the ball less often than anyone else on the pitch but scored a hat-trick. It isn't really happening for him just now, but I'm sure it will soon.

The problem is Moyes has us sitting so defensively that he's isolated. At times there's literally no Sunderland player within about 40 yards of him.

Our distribution usually involves hoofing up to him directly and hoping he battles and wins something against big physical defenders (never ever ever his game) or Speedy quickly goal-kicking the ball up to him into space and hoping he wins it, holds it up and somehow manages to score from his own pass.

He is not so much the focal-point of our attacking force. He IS our attacking force. If we got more men up to support him and better midfielders that could keep the ball without losing it so sloppily he might have more touches.

The fact we have been so poor and he's still managed to score 4 times shows his quality as a striker.

We only have a slim chance of surviving but that chance would be totally gone if he left or got injured

all of that, and that stats are rubbish.
