He's a totally different player to Defoe though. It's like asking Cattermole to replace a he who must not be named.

that he aint, but if we can get them playing closer together Defoe will benefit from N`Doye winning balls played to him

We can't keep playing him on the wing and he won't start ahead of defoe but hopefully he'll be happy being the alternative option or the shut the game down in the last 10 minutes protecting a lead player.

He did well today but he's not a winger or attacking wide man

Got better as the game went on, obviously even more so when he replaced Defoe up front. He must have won every single header he went up for.

Really thought he was absolutely brilliant. Man of the match. Held it up, won free kicks in dangerous positions, relieved pressure, put himself about. Was really impressed. Delighted Big Sam kept him on and took Defoe off, the right substitution.

Defoe was an injury doubt before kick off. N'Doye wouldn't have been in my top 3 for MotM.

Kone beat Smalling in the air on the edge of there box from a free kick and there was a bit of a clash of heads. Prior to that he was playing well but afterwards he was really shaky. N'Doye beat him a few times and it culminated in the winning goal.

Credit to Sam for having the balls to replace JD and put Dame up top today.

You can see his system needs a big man to make the ball stick and he was integral the last 15 min in relieving pressure in his hold up play and ability to win a free kick to slow the play down when we're under pressure.

He is but he isn't in the same class. Defoe would have stayed on if he'd been 100% fit pre game rather than carrying a hamstring.

He really had been agrahamesque the last couple of matches but today was a class above clearly. Provided okay cover for Yedlin but, more importantly, drove at goal, drew fouls. Had been wondering before what anyone had seen in him.

Aye I totally agree. Just think n'doye gives us something a bit different. He certainly relieves pressure
