Just as well there was no internet around when he was sold. There would have been hell on.
Me fatha said he started to cry when he found out we sold him
Toddo was painted all around Sunderland when i was a sprog
Too right. It would have been the end of civilization as we know it. I was at college when we sold him and I just sat and cried. The sale of Jones does not register on the same scale as the sale of Toddo.
The chant in the Fulwell- "Colin Todd Son of God."
I see him most weeks during the summer as he is a frequent attender, with one of his sons, at both CLS CCC and Durham CCC.
Really nice bloke.
For fuck's sake, haven't we got enough centre halves without buying one who was past it 30 odd years ago? Bruce out
The internet started in 1957 when the Soviets sent Sputnik into space. It was just in time for our first relegation the next year.
Serving in British Honduras (Belize) when the news came as I received it on my military radio listening to the world service and BFBS.
Me and a couple of marra's ended up on the lash, choking all bloody neet and couldn't believe it.
Two things that Taff Jones won't be able to say
He was transferred for a BRITISH RECORD
He will be missed by all and I mean ALL of us
Colin Todd, Son of God
Kenwynn Jones, Lazy Bones
Was everyone happy then?
Were we ever realistically likely to hold onto Todd once we'd been relegated and he'd been overlooked by England?
There was hell on when Toddo was sold to Derby......lasted a few weeks i recall
we were skint-sound familiar
I don't think we were that skint as the previous December (1970) we'd just paid £100,000 to sign Dave Watson. What a defensive partnership they would have made though when we signed Watson he was a centre forward.
