A great season for him..matured, slick and professional...he's come a long way..well done lad!
Like him, not the fastest but has a quick brain!
One of the first names on the team sheet- him and McClean have both done brilliantly this season to force themselves into that bracket, Colback arguably more so as there is plenty competition for places in there and he has also done a cracking job at left back when required. Well done Jack lad, good season.
Thought he was crap the first time I saw him play but he's been outstanding this season and hopefully he'll carry on improving.
Is he good enough though ?
No doubting he has played well for the most part this season ?
A 'starter' next season ??
Would be an automatic choice for me but at left back rather than in midfield although his style of play (and hair) reminds me more and more of Paul Scholes every week:-D
If he could get half a dozen goals a season he'd be some player. Hasn't received half the credit he deserves from the media etc. Long may he continue to be our little secret!
I think Colback is still miles away from the player he's capable of being. At the moment, he's neat, tidy, joins things up and puts a shift in. Hopefully, over the next couple of years, he's going to mature into a really good player that can dominate a game.
I'd start him next season aye. Hard worker who is decent at winning the ball, calm and composed in possession- if he could add goals to his game he'd be an absolutely top prospect but as it is he is a very good little player to have in the middle of the pitch regardless of who we play alongside him
He needs to be kept away from left back, he can do a job buy it stunts his progress in his best position, he matures every game in midfield.
I'm still not sure that LB isn't his best position. If he was at a bigger club, he'd probably have more chance as a LB. I think he'd get into Everton, Liverpool and Newcastle's team as a LB at the moment and might have a shout at Chelsea and Man U as a replacement for the aging Evra and Cole.
Baines, Enrique, An Other .....
You must be off your tits?
He's a competent left-back, but better than Baines and Enrique he is certainly not.
Our central midfield players have over 200 appearances for the club between them and have scored 7 goals. Jack will be competing with Cattermole for one spot
That'll teach me to drink and post!
Definitely a starter next season.
We want our academy to produce and save us money, so quite simply when a talented young lad comes through, with the desire to go with it, where is the sense in not giving him the chance?
We want him to get goals, we want him to improve. Play him, and he may well. Don't and he won't, and we'll be in the same position next year.
As he is arguably our best CM anyway (most consistent I think is a pretty safe suggestion) it would be silly not to consider him as one of the players to carry into our best XI for next year. Worst case scenario, he ain't great - but he has already shown he has enough to keep us away from the bottom three.
He'll be major player next season
