any good ones? wish I'd taken notice of the adverts now:-(
Aviva, Direct Line for starters
Tesco by far and away the cheapest, cracking savings particularly online and have a clubcard. I saved about £240 and a lad on Twitter I recommended them to saved £150.
Direct line is a fucking rip off.
I've never found Tesco to be the cheapest when I get quotes every year, same for my mrs as well.
Always found this myself as well
Every time I check the companies that don't appear on price comparison sites, they are always way more expensive.
Try these, http://www.tiger.co.uk/ they the cheapest I could find,
aye, just tried them, £40 more than my last years insurer
aye, just tried a few and they are £70 more than axa off moneysupermarket
That one with iggy pop on the adverts with me...
I normally use comparison sites, but one time I bought a car and I had to fill in all the details over the phone for the week's free cover. After about half an hour the gave me a quote double what i was already paying. Fuck that.
£150 cheater than next cheapes quote
£40 quidco cash back
£25 tesco voucher
Club card points.
I went with post office for the car this year, dinnar if they are on the comparison sites like, but the policy is very good, rac breakdown, keys loss cover and shite like that, and the fact they knocked 80 quid off last years jobbie like.
I've found this as well, you get a quote excitedly thinking there's a hidden world of cheap insurance from companies that won't pay comparison sites a fee and therefore will pass it on to the consumer. Turns out the reason they aren't on there is that they don't want to be exposed as having shit deals against their competitors.
Everyone raves about Tesco, but I've checked them for two years and they have been expensive as owt for me. I'm grudgingly paying Elephant more and more each year come renewal time because even with them lumping an extra £50-£60 on a year they are still coming out cheaper than anyone else. That elephant in the blue suit and red trainers is a right twat an'all.
Swift Cover. Cheapest i found like.
Like you, I found Tesco not to be the cheapest.
Swift was cheaper for everybody in my office last year, totally bumped price up this year now. On average £150 more for most people now.
