how much is it? just so we can put this 'he has spent a lot of short's money' craic to bed.
I've no idea, no one's ever discussed that on here
he has spent a fortune and signed 33 players, it just so happens we had assets to sell to enable this
Just because the assets were here when he arrived doesn't mean he has spent nowt does it, whether he uses new or existing money it still spending
Sick of reading about this 'he's spent nothing' shite, do you think the 33 players were free
Aye mate, O'Neill would never have sold Henderson or Bent. At least that's what he whispers to you as you assume the position.
you miss my point completely, just sick of hearing about how he has spent nowt and we should stick with him because he generates his own funds, errr no he doesn't he inherited a massive squad which had value
He has pretty much sold off all the silver and looking through our squad we don't really have many saleable assets left, Colback in a year or 2 perhaps but no stand out stars.
He will have to actually spend new money to continue his scatter gun approach to buying players, the his net spend is minus £30m will these same people be calling for his head as he has suddenly spent a fortune.
A thought - he's never been in a charge of the acquisitions or sales. He and Quinny confirmed this.
Maybe we agree (as he's got fuck all to do with generating funds). Just saying.
Up front, he sold Kenwyne Jones so that he could buy Asamoah Gyan.
He sold Darren Bent and bought Connor Wickham and Ji Dong Won.
In midfield, he sold Lorik Cana and spent more than that on Craig Gardner.
In defence, he sold Danny Collins, and used a similar amount of money to bring in Marcos Angeleri and Matt Kilgallon.
How many of those strengthened the team?
Is he meant to get credit for ripping the quality out of the side?
Is he meant to get credit for wasting the brilliant opportunity that he had to turn quantity into quality (when he inherited a squad of 55 players from Keane)?
Is he meant to get credit for balancing the books on the basis of muddling through with 5 highly paid loan signings last year, only one of which - by far the worst of which - is still here?
Is he meant to get credit for transfers which leave us with a squad without a left back, without a left winger, or any player who has ever scored more than 6 goals in a season in it?
You forget he inherited a team with no balance. Short of a quality left back and left winger and bought in.....oh hang on.
Yet again Pardew is pissing all over the buffoon.
Its Bruces squad now and most of it is shite, does that help?
In every thread on Bruce you mention the mags. "The mags are above us" is the root of your sleepless nights and bed-wetting.
So apart from Bruce every new manager starts without any assets to sell?
I would make the comparison if Pardew managed any other team.
The facts are:
Pardew spent 20 million 29 games 42 points.
Bruce 18 months start spent 70 million 29 games 30 points
Whoa there, you're forgetting the accepted SMB logic. Money generated from player sales doesn't count, selling players is purely at the discretion of the board.
Oooooh, this is new.
That is pretty subjective though.
Ripping the quality out the side? Any quality there, he put in originally.
The last game of the season before he came in we had:
Bardsley Davenport Collins Ferdinand
Whitehead Malbranque Leadbitter Richardson Tainio
Subs: Colgan, McShane, Reid, Edwards, Murphy, Cisse, Healy
Can you tell me where the quality was in that side?
I think Bruce should go because of the tactics (well lack of them) and complete inbalance in the team entering his third season in charge. But to say he inherited a load of quality, cherry pick his worst signings and say he ripped our narrow-surivival team to bits, is just silly.
Phew - I'm pleased I don't have to go into business with you
after buying his 33 players...how many are worth more than £5m...Gyan...who else...not many...so our future spend will be wheeling and dealing in general..
nee the wonder Quinny is off to find gold abroad...doubt Short will pump anymore cash in..
I'll give him 6 matches to save himself...not wanting anyone sacked..just the way it is..
You have a point there like.
That bit in particular is horrible, no comparison between the two, Cana was a beast.
