McCoist played about 70-80 games for us IIRC.
Helmer was the first name that springs to mind.
I know Bould played more than 10 but not that many more and he was quality for us.
Varga pre his injury at Manchester City too, only 1 game I know but he was absolutely superb and then never really the same when he came back.
Tommy Lynch !
Gotta be Waddle or Helmer. How many did big Jim Holton play? He was class.
Marcus de Guiseppe or something like that wasn't it? I was there when he came on in the league cup at Walsall. We won 5-0 with Carsten Fredgard scoring 2.
What about David bellion
What's the criteria here?
Are we talking best performances in a SAFC shirt who, for whatever reason, made less than 10 appearences? (Beagrie, Downing)
Best player throughout their career who played less than 10 games for SAFC? (Helmer, Waddle)
downing or beagrie for me
be well over 50!
some very good players but it has to be waddle
Helmur for me like. 68 Germany caps, 1 European Championship winners medal, 1 UEFA Cup winners medal, Champions League runner up .....oh and 2 games for Sunderland!!!!
Did he bollocks, he went into some challenges like a right fairy.
I can understand the younger lads opting for Downing as he's a name, but if you'd seen Beagrie then there would only be one winner. He was superb. Had you on the edge of your seat (if you had one then you posh bastard !). Tortured every full back he played against. In typical Sunderland fashion we couldn't raise the 250k or so to buy him permanently ffs.(Might have been 750k my memory fails me)
Bridges, homegrown as well.
Bollocks, he used to wash the attacks away.
Played about 30/40?
Didn't Everton fans chant 'send him to Sunderland' if one of their players was having a mare? Think PB was the first SAFC player i ever seen do a somersault after scoring?
Like I said, not many. Cisse possibly while in Greece?
