Chelsea got a similar transfer ban in 2010 because of Kakuta but got it overturned. Same will happen here
They didn't. They struck a deal with the French club who then mysteriously turned around and said "oh actually, we were wrong".

It has apparently been suspended pending an appeal. They can sign players now. What's the point then?

Suspended on appeal? So basically open up the transfer window, let them sign loads of players and even if they are found to still be in the wrong it won't matter? An absolute joke
Was always going to happen. Just wait until the appeal when it'll be given as a 2 year suspended sentence. It has apparently been suspended pending an appeal. They can sign players now. What's the point then?
lads in FIFA getting a nice backhander out of this no doubt. The football authorities are a joke now.
ayeIt's been a while, mind
The fact remains that they'll just sign a bucket load of players before any possible ban, negating the point of it completely.Nothing to see here, just standard procedure. They can't actually punish them (and convict them of something they might be innocent of) until the appeal has been heard.
Top work there Sir!They will appeal. They will request that the punishment is suspended for the duration of the appeal procedure. They will sign everyone under the sun in the Summer and mitigate the damage caused if they then lose the appeal and are transfer banned. Nantes did something similar last Summer.
Corruption at work surely.
