They were very average.
How many times did we trouble their keeper?
Bruce lover You get worse every time, pal.
the system we are now adopting whilst not particulary encouraging free flowing football, invites oppo players on, thus developing space for attacking chances. its working so why twist. we probably have not 'won' the possession stats since o'neill has been in charge but we have 'won' points.
bang on the money.
Heard a few people on way out of the ground talking of it being a weird game, we didnt really deserve to win etc....
What makes you deserve to win a game? Passing the ball a lot but not troubling the keeper is not showing class, and its not meaning you are deserving of winning the game.
Mags at home. Bruce claimed that we totally battered them first half. Reality was we had loads of the ball, but little cutting edge with the only save of note for Krul a shot from just outside area by Sessegnon. Whereas the Scum have two clear chances from corners, and Larrson cleared one off the line with his arm. Strange, but I'd much rather we were a team with a clear strategy and cutting edge than one that meanders around the pitch with no penetration.
I'd settle for being as average as them, even away from home, plus Sess and AN Other up front.
Thats a bit harsh.
Ok they lack a cutting edge but they looked a better side than us for long periods today.
By the end of this thread some people will have Swansea as 'Barcelona' while we're 'the plucky little outfit from the Faroe Islands'
For me its all about points at the minute, but MON will know we are getting away with it, some good organisation and some great goals, but it can't last.
MON is doing the best he can with what he has, but he needs to add a few players so we can control games for longer periods.
Don't think Cattermole had a particularly good game today, McClean was a little in and out which is understandable given his age and level of experience and Wickham isn't ready yet. We might get 1 or 2 in, we might not buts its a case of 10 more points or so and look to jiggle things in the summer.
hes on my ignore list and i can only see his responses via quoting so just let him plug away....he is a tail and will go running to the mods as soon as he looks to be losing an arguement.
granted i went overboard on my abuse of him but i only have focus on my job search atm, i dont have time for cocky messageboard bravado
Good post.Thats how i look at it at the moment.
You've covered virtually every angle in both posts, even in the second.
That's not true. The posts in question of mine I've posted all support the signing of wickham prior to and post signing him- though he's still yet to get anywhere close to proving his worth here. All the way through I've questioned the fee and the reasoning of signing him when we needed someone proven. In one post (which isn't even worded correctly because it was a hashed edit) I've mentioned how his preseason form was poor and how he was lacking the basics, the post in question doesn't even make sense but you've took it as proof I've slated the lad and questioned the signing based on previous knowledge, when actually it says nothing of the sort.
Your posts in here today on the game/result smack of someone still trying to back up previous opinions on the previous management, rather than just getting on with supporting us now. Bringing up my previous posts whenever I appear serve no purpose other than trying to show how I may have been incorrect too, like you were to back Bruce for so long too.
I'm not twisting. I'm just resisting the stampede of the herd to call it a top, tactically inspired performance, when it was one that showed more flaws than the score suggests (but the other stats, and independent reports, won't).
Apart from great last line defending and two superb strikes, we were, for the most part, outplayed. That's not supposed to happen, and it certainly wasn't intentional.
A simple fact. It should be possible to rejoice in the points, and still accept that.
The tactics are spot on for the personel MON inherited.
We are organised at the back, defend set pieces well, and stick to the game plan.
Actually having a game plan is a revelation all of itself.
I am as sure as I can be that when the opportunity presents itself, then we will purchase the players who will iron out the negatives what you mention above. as it stands though, MON is shuffling around another managers pack and doing a better job than the previous incumbent could ever of dreamed of
so so wrong............
Did Swansea look like scoring?
Why? We're above them in the table, we have more points than them and we've just beaten them.
I certainly didn't think so.
Despite their few half chances..
A 'herd' implies a large number but I'd doubt you could name 3 people who've said that.
People seem to be saying we did the best we could with the players we had available and adapted well to losing a key player after 11 minutes.
I'd say that was a reasonable point of view considering we're all deliriously happy with 3 points and looking forward to MOTD in a drunken state.
You said you were behind his signing, and I just directly quoted you being critical of him and calling his signing a waste of money. Over 4 posts. Do you think people can't read??
I daren't even allow myself to absorb your "questioning the fee" comment, after all yours directed at people who didn't rate Gordon's signing (since proven right), as I fear my bowels may explode with laughter.
You say A, then you say B, then you quote whichever of them best helps you on the day. Proven fact.
Conversely, show any inconsistency or inaccuracy in my comments on Bruce, and I'll buy you a pint. And I don't take lightly (not so much the money as having to be in the same place at the same time).
