i hate the way how politics these days is reduced to this meaningless left-right divide in the way people speak about it. conversations devolve into this knuckle-dragging us against you mentality. it's not just an idiotic approach to talking about issues, it's also dangerous- look what's going on in the states at the moment with their mess of a political system that engenders this bi-polar attitude.
anyway, as for anti-semitism, imo it's grown out of centuries of them being the perfect scapegoats in europe- minority population that have kept to their own customs the best they can. the best way to form a collective identity is to decide who the enemy is (i.e. to decide who 'we' are not), and the jews have just always been the most obvious choice.
