He will be replaced by Ed Balls, the shadow home secretary.
Mr Balls' wife, Yvette Cooper, the current shadow foreign secretary, will take over the home affairs brief.
Douglas Alexander will take over as shadow foreign secretary from Miss Cooper.
Mr Johnson will quit citing personal reasons, but may still decide to do another shadow cabinet job.
His tenure in the Treasury brief has been fraught with problems. He began by joking that he needed an economic primer to help him get over his lack of knowledge on matters financial.
I thought he played for Queen of the South.
Is he not still at Queen of the South ?
feck beat me to it. Great minds
My initial thought was..
Just wanted to drop by and say "Have fun." Tonight should be a free-fire idea zone. Watch a DVD, eat some pizza, fuck each other. I'm serious. Fuck a chicken if that's what it takes. Watch a chicken fucking a horse. What? You think the guys who invented Google sat around watching Trumpton?
family reasons is code for realised i'm out of my depth.. a lorik cana in other words
Hasn't he done this before
And Alistair Campbell has resurfaced, it won't be pretty.
'Person reasons' = I've been a complete disaster and everyone realised within 5 minutes of me getting the job I was totally out of my depth.
Resigned to the fact that he is an arse. If you have the face of an arse, talk like an arse, walk like an arse, act like an arse, think like an arse, there's only one conclusion.........
Two Eds are better than one. Boomboomtish
thought this was adam johnson over at man city. got all excited
Johnston out. Balls up!
If that's a headline tomorrow, I claim my £500!
A shame he's done this now distracting from the disaster that is the current government.
You can bet your life Osborne will be sleeping slightly less soundly tonight though
You have cut me with your sarcasm. Seriously, he sometimes seemed a decent bloke but, across the board, there don't seem to be any politicians left with any integrity. Happy to be corrected but it just looks like we will be sinking further into political apathy. By the way, does anyone have any radical ideas on political reform because it just now seems stagnant. As a lefty I feel like the coalition are making policy on the hoof, almost like they didn't expect to win the election....oh.
Well there's going to be AV, and the bold bit.
If you don't know why then you're dafter than i thought.
No scarcasm, plain fact. Osborne would rather be facing Johnson than sweaty Balls. Well, er
Separate names with a comma.
