Well he's played a part in last 2 games, if you go by friendlies then Bramble will be starting at Arsenal.
The last 2 friendlies at Derby and Leicester will determine who starts, I really hope Laing starts one of them, he's better than Bramble IMO.

Re: CB pairing against Arsenal
Yeah the next few games will be interesting, personally if I was O'Neill I'd just tell Bramble to train with the reserves until he lost another 2 stone. I think Cuellar, Brown and O'Shea will all be ahead of Bramble in the pecking order but it looks like MoN has Bramble ahead of Laing at the moment like.

Totally agree mate, I agree that Cuellar, O'Shea and Brown will be ahead of Laing but IMO Laing should be next in line. Laing is the best passer of a football at the club by all accounts, maybe he will get a game in Carling Cup(or whatever it's called these days).

Collins would be a decent signing... seems reliable enough. O'Neill rates him and from what I've seen of him he'd be an improvement on Turner. Doubt we could get anyone significantly better without paying a huge wedge that could go towards a decent striker.
I'd loan Egan and Laing out again, somewhere in the Championship for them to play regularly for a few months rather than chucking them in at the deep end. It's one thing doing that for a winger (McClean) but with defenders it's a lot more risky putting them in head first at this level.
|
Agreed. Which of our managers gave debuts to our youngsters against teams like Man U, Chelsea never to see them again Got a feeling that Keane had a tendency to do that.

And dock Bramble's wages for being unfit to play through his own mismanagement!

Re: CB pairing against Arsenal
Maybe with Turner gone now and Brown injured again, MON sees Cuellar as a CB again in this squad, and is now thinking of Gardner and Bardsley as the RB's, assuming we don't sign any more RB's and CB's.
I hope to see Laing in there this season, but at Arsenal I think he'll probably start on the bench along with Kilgallon, with O'Shea And Cuellar starting in the middle (if fit).
However, at home and against slightly lesser opposition, I think MON will play more and more of Laing and start to bring on Egan too.
Johnny Evans and Phil Jones are recent examples of giving 19 year olds a chance and them taking it.
Best of luck to the lad(s). The two of them have three very experienced CB's to learn from.

Re: CB pairing against Arsenal
Another vote for JOS and Cuellar, could bring Laing in at RB with Bardo yet to kick a ball so far, be good experience for him and without the pressure of playing in the centre, O'Shea would keep him right.

Re: CB pairing against Arsenal
I'd like to see JOS and Wes at CB, Cuellar at RB and either Rico/new signing at LB

Turner and Brown seem to be the most likely ATM...

O'Shea and Kilgallon as it stands.
Don't even want to see Bramble in the squad in all honesty.
