    Default Best bits of ceremony

    James Bond (surreal)
    Cauldron
The handing over from the old guard to the young.
    Becks on the coloured boat.
    The five gold rings.
(the actual putting together of the show too).

Funniest = The czech republic team > blazers, shorts and wellies

    Least good bit -

Most of the beginning, it was far too long - should just have done the rings and a song; athletes in; becks/redgrave/old guard/new guard/torch and cauldron > sorted. Nice and simple - 90 mins tops.

2 to a hospital bed at times too..... Side swipe at the current funding issues??

The inclusion of the NHS theme in general was definitely a political one by Boyle.

Each to their own. I watched with two other people, and although the putting together was appreciated none thought it was that good in the sense of "Why?" It was too bitty and irrelevant.

Beckham in a boat was just funny.

We knew we couldn't match Beijing, it should have been short and sweet. IMHO.

Paul McCartney just seemed like an easy get out - "everybody knows the words".

A class piece of new music would have been much better.
