Default Likelyhood of getting badly hurt cagefighting?

I don't follow it - do the refs jump in quick if your getting your arse tanned?

A lad I know is having a fight - just the one - to see what it's like. He's around 40 and has only been training a short while, and he's due to fight some kid coming over from Ireland shortly. I see a sound kicking on the cards here like, although he reckons he used to box and can handle himself.

Can't say it would be on my Bucket List like.

I wouldn't of thought getting in the cage after a couple of weeks training against a trained fighter would be wise like .people watch and think its just fighting not realising the skill and training that goes into it.

The refs only jump in if they can see you are badly hurt or unable to defend yourself, he's going to get very badly beaten up.
What a stupid fucking thing to do

Depends really. If this other lad is a kick boxer style person, the ref can easy see when he's taking too much damage and jump in. If, on the other hand, the other guy is mint at jujitsu, your mate my have his arm broken by the time the ref realises he's giving up by squealing like a girl and wetting himself. Good luck to him. Any chance you could record it and hoy the footage up on here?

All depends on the quality of the ref really.

They are supposed to stop it as soon as one fighter is unable to intelligently defend himself - i.e. BEFORE he's knocked the fuck out. As soon as he's just covering up and not offering anything else = stop.

But that's the stuff I watch (UFC etc). I wouldn't be suprised if refs are smaller venues are "under instruction" to let it go just that little bit further for the enjoyment of the crowd (they've got to sell tickets next time if you know what I mean?)

If he's shite he'll be submitting in seconds if the kid he's fighting knows jiu jitsu. i should know as 2 of the lads at work are quite good and i made the mistake of asking one of the fuckers how do you defend against this (pretending to stab him in the torso) next thing i know i'm blacking out, upside down and had a massive carpet burn on my baldy heed

Brilliant... that made me laugh out loud this bloody Monday morning when I really just want to go back to bed and not to work.
