It is the only reason. Like I said they have great forwards while we have fucking shite. We have the worst forwards in the league.

To use the absence of Gyan as a reason for having a shit season is pushing it a bit though. Reading through the Gyan thread and by most accounts he would have been neither use nor fucking ornament given his mental and physical state had he stayed.

it would be nice to assume a £13million international footballer will turn up at least a little bit ready to play, that wasn't sunderland's fault.

i will definitely concede one thing though. we were heading into a season with one recognised forward which was a massive risk anyway. even if gyan was spot on and raring to go he could have been seriously injured in the first minute of the first game. the net result would have been exactly the same, no striker.

maybe it just highlighted we hadn't spent well up front and were already threadbare.
that said, take away the "missing" striker and the actual squads are a lot closer.

As it stands its about right, we finished the season poorly and now have no strikers, they had a good consistent season and have kept the squad together. I expect us at least to change but fair odds at mo

Sadly this is probably true, perhaps not the worst in the league but pretty close to it. Wish it was like fifa and you could sell all 3 for more than you paid then bring in 3 quality players for the exact same money

    No, it's definitely THE worst.

Could possibly say tiote over cattermole, but i wouldn't, which equates to 5 newcastle and 6 sunderland, with left back as the main contentious position as we don't have a proper one
SunderCastle might win the Champions League!

I think it might have something to do with the fact that you're comparing squads but then saying "without him and him.. give us him and him" etc. Like me saying if we swapped Campbell for Messi we would have got more points last season.

Fact, as proven by league table, is that there is quite a difference between the two squads at the moment. As said in this thread though, we probably don't need to sign a great amount of players to close the gap. A half decent Premier League striker should close the gap a bit.

What if Newcastle sign a RB and CH to improve their 'weak' defence? You're playing catch-up.

Playing catch up to what? You don't start with a 20 point lead because that's what you had last season.
