Surely the idea is to buy new players good enough for the first team, meaning current first team players move to the bench and squad players get sold?

Yeah. But Gardner wasn't a squad player by any means. He's good enough to sit on the bench IMO. Although that will probably result in him throwing his toys out again.

I think Catts and Colback are ahead of him in the pecking order. If we were to sign a new first choice midfielder then at least 1, if not 2 of Gardner, Vaughan and Meyler would be dispensable. Out of those 3, we would get more cash for Gardner, so it would make more sense to sell him imo.

Some people are really going over the top with Gardner at RB. He played there for a few games and admittedly played quite well but he still looked like a CM playing at RB. In Both of which he simply isn't that good. Anywhere near what we paid for him and we should snap their hands off.

Until we do though, we need to keep him sadly. It's ok selling players but we have a habit of not replacing them, or at least filling their position adequately.

    Rejected? Aww you're kidding.

Can't wait till he goes, a cancer in the dressing room, a coward and a complete worm of a human being.

Offers nothing to the team, get rid asap.

Wouldn't want a loan deal. A permanent offering to someone in the Midlands would be better.

I personally don't want to see Gardner start a a game for us again, in any position. At best he is adequate, barely, as a right back & he is totally inadequate in central midfield.

That being said, we're hardly blessed with an abundance of central midfielders right now so just for numbers alone until we sign better we need to keep him.
