Gyan never signed for SAFC because he had always aspired to play for us. We were a stepping stone to the money on offer in the PL. Simple as that, and that can probably be said about plenty of other players signed in recent seasons.

If any of our current squad were offered the sort of money he has been offered, then they'd be very tempted unless they have the ability to play at a CL level sort of club (but there's not many in our squad with anywhere near that ability).
It was the timing of his move that was the killer for us. Left us high and dry at the last minute and to go to Al Ain at his age is a joke. Man is a multi millionaire with no ambition just cares about the cash.

yes, but his totally unprofessional attitude in getting himself 4 stone overweight meant instead of us getting the "accepted" stepping stone profit we made a loss and the only person to benefit was gyan.
the timing of his selfish and money orientated actions also threw all of our preparations into disarray leaving little time for replacements.

at least with the bent situation we made our slice on the deal and moved on. the gyan saga only benefitted one selfish, greedy mercenary. there's a way to handle these situations and gyan proved he has no integrity whatsoever, regardless of where he was going to end up and for how much.

The Emirati club have confirmed their capture of Gyan on a reportedly bumper deal to stay at the club where he played on loan last year, with the final fee putting Sunderland of between £1million to £3m short of the record £13m they paid for the Ghanaian hitman in 2010.

But Gyan insists he is a player traded between the two clubs and cannot be held liable for any mishap on the Premier League outfit’s side. “Al Ain came that they like me and Sunderland agreed. I had no option. I don’t have any problem with any Sunderland fan but that is life,” Gyan has said in his defence.

The 26 year old added: “I will like to thank all the fans for their support. They play my music ‘African Girls’ even when I’m not at the stadium, they really love me. I love Sunderland, the fans love me but this is life. Life goes on.”

Asamoah however denies that he has already signed a permanent deal with Al Ain.

“We are still on negotiations but definitely they will like to sign me because I did well. As a striker I had to bang in the goals and I did exactly that for us to win the league. I think I had a perfect season,” Gyan said.Credit:

Do we? We might like, I normally get into the ground just in time for kick off but still, I can't ever remember hearing that shite at the stadium (mind I tend to try me best to blank out all the shit music)
