Never mind the fact that its probably logistically impossible with us having two stands bigger than the other two.
Actually, the roof line is the same height all the way around the stadium, a feature of it's original design to allow for expansion. It is a mental idea though, very expensive for little reward. The only possible benefit I can see would be for concerts etc, where the weather would no longer be a possible problem.

It will never happen though, and shouldn't.

Given how bad our pitch gets in winter, how feasible is it that we put a retractable roof on the SOL?

It could be worth looking into IMO, it would make our pitch much nicer and the SOL much warmer for spectators.
    Hope this doesnt happen

Its definately possible to do and there are certain benefits from it , bout doubt it would be cost effective

Although we could use the stadium for car boot sales etc during the summer say £12 per stall to pay the roof off

Does anyone know (approximately) how much it'd cost?

The Wimbledon roof cost £100m iirc.

However, if we attach a giant curtain to the roof so the sunlight can't get in, it will help to stop the seats from turning pink as well
