didn't realise they were that close together.
god only knows how i didn't get lifted at boro as well. probably too much going on at the boro match and slipped through the net. fighting in the holgate, fighting in the paddocks, chased them onto the pitch 3 minutes after kick-off, people diving down out of the seats to join in alongside a constant 90 minute backdrop of fighting in the bobb end. and that was just the lads who weren't in the official away section!! the away end made up for missing out on most of the action outside.

then onto leeds when we breached the "no man's land" on the terrace and clattered into them. that was my last recollection of the game!! i think riv said a while back there was some steps up the side of the seats and thats how so many got up there. either way leeds got legged left right and centre. we were already past the stairs bit so i never knew how so many could get up there till riv said.
i think we lost 1-0 or drew 1-1 but i'm sure there was something to do with a penalty for us.

they don't do awaydays like that anymore and i think most modern day fans wouldn't believe it actually happened.

Seem to remember going down in the mid/late 70's with a fair number.. arrived early an went looking for a pub, but the place was a tip as they'd been demolishing all the houses round about.
Unfortunately, that left plenty of rubble around for "ammo" which the Leeds fans started hoying at us, so we retreated back towards the ground.. across the motorway. Fortunately, the bridge across the motorway had a roof on it... but the bricks n arl were stotting down on the motorway and bouncing off cars etc etc... absolute fecking madness!

Not sure if it was the same trip when we were on the first coach pulling in to a services on the A1 on the way back, only to find the Boro already there... and starting to surround our coach... all looked pretty nasty for a minute... and then the rest of ours arrived!! Masses of them.. one after the other! The Boro started backpedalling fast... and I think I heard that they all left PDQ.. and not many with any windas left intact!...

No chance we only had the centre section of The Lowfields.

    3,000 maximum there that day.
