Default Another twist in the Rangers saga tonight

Dundee United have just officially confirmed they will not vote them back into the SPL. This comes after Hibs and Hearts have said the same and Motherwell have passed the decision over to a fans vote (which means another almost certain No).

What all this means is that Rangers now need every other club to support them or its Scottish League Division Three (at best), next season. They need 8 votes to get back in and this now looks highly unlikely.

The BBC reported this morning that the SFA were trying to manipulate a deal whereby the SPL clubs vote them back in and then the SFA would demote them one division to get around sending them all the way down. It looks like the SPL clubs have finally grown a pair and will leave them out in the cold and the SFL will have no option than to put them in Division Three and even that spare place will be put to a vote with other clubs eligible to apply for it.

Hard to believe that such a big club will be playing the likes of Annan Athletic and Berwick in the league, but it looks increasingly likely now.

Their TV deal is safe for 3-4 years, and some of them could make champions league

Surely they will not vote for Rangers

Kilmarnock are the only club making "we'll vote for Rangers" type noises from the sound of it.

To be honest, pretty much every fan of every other club have taken the same stance and it has actually worked, with chairman of clubs changing their mind on the issue when they realise how many of their own fans are serious. It looks like a victory for fan power and sporting integrity against the money men, which makes a refreshing change.

I also think its the best thing for Rangers in the long run as well as if they got in by the back door, everything they subsequently achieved would be tainted. This way, they serve their time and come back with a clean slate.

Your fellow Scots fans have done the game of football proud and there will be no anti Scottish 'banter' from me on this thread.
