    how do you fix this problem?

    Factory restore the ipod.

    go to 'Settings' on the iPod and choose 'Reset' to reset the iPod without deleting anything on the iPod
    or
    'Settings' then choose 'Restore' to do a factory restore, wiping the iPod of everything
