Default More Than Just Your Average Footballer

People usually associate pro footballers with booris behaviour and thats putting it midly.
Money sex booze fights ( on and off the pitch) more money tattoos WAG's gambling and outrageously gaudy purchases- house cars clothes etc.
But once in a while along comes a pro footballer who acually gives the beautiful game a good name. One such person is Niall Quinn a Legend.
His benefit match raised £1mil tax free for hospitals in Sunderland and Dublin.
It was quite simply in in the days of football greed and self indulgence an amazing gesture but this is the mark of the man.
He addressed the 'Aisling Appeal ' for Crumlin hospital recently by saying they turned his life around when he was depressed after ending his football career.
There are not many men let alone pro footballers that would admit to such frailities.
For that alone Niall Quinn we salute you. You are a real pro and a gent.

A great man in my mind, wonder where we would be now if he never came to Sunderland, there have been a few Legends in my lifetime, but he would be close to the top if not the all time great

I love the bloke but by his own admission, Quinny did quite a few of those things in his younger days.

    Clearly.

And boy did he change his lifestyle and more than redeem himself. But Quinny was no saint when he was younger.

Got a fair few mag mates and none have ever said a word against him to me, but a few have praised him.

For that to happen, and not be done in a mocking way, makes him a unique player in Wear-Tyne football.

    Can anyone think of another?
