They told me to stop in my third year, neither of them went to university but have done well anyway so they wanted me to make sure I spent the time I wasn't studying making sure I had something lined up for straight after I graduate and not trying to earn a bit of extra coin. My mam has this strange thing about 'gaps' on a CV.

That said, they've never done anything like buy me a holiday (unless it was a family one) or a car. They've just made sure I've had enough to live on while I'm studying.

They also offered to pay for my post-graduate studies if I needed it but I've found a scholarship with more than enough to live on as well as fees so I won't need to rely on them any more.

    I'm 21.
    Fucking hell

i was 15 when i stopped sponging off my folks. got a job in specsavers then by 17 i was working in car insurance. now 20 im working for hewlett packard.

cannot stand people who sponge off their folks. even before my first real job i had 3 paper rounds to get money.

17 year old saved all my own pennies to £2,300 just to pay for 1 year car insurance.

It's bloody hard in your situation so dont feel bad about it...if parents dont mind then dont get a woman just to get a mortgage ffs....find the right one and work money out together...lucky your mum and dad can do this mind! Use it but dont take the piss
