They've got £423.3m of debt though don't they? If the Glaziers bail out at some point, Man U would implode spectacularly.

Already did happen to us, not remember the two record low PL seasons? We just got lucky and recovered.

So you think, for an infinite time in the future, Man Utd will never be relegated again?
Right...

Is it not nearer £700m? Although £423m or £700m doesnt make much difference really

Thing is Utd can have 10 key players out for most part of the season, and they wouldn't go down ... they're that much better than so many teams (and will be for many, many years), they've got that much more strength in depth... and 10 key players out for a long time isn't very likely...
The rules of the game will have to change drastically before they risk going down. A salary cap that all teams share, but that won't happen.
But of course, no one can know how things stand the year 2128.

Is the correct answer - not necessarily Man City, but the idea is right

It won't, eventually they will go down again.

Well I guess that's the point.
I don't think Man Utd will struggle in the next few seasons, but how many Forest fans would have predicted, say circa 1987, that they'd spend the next 20 years struggling.
Same goes for Liverpool. How many of their supporters would have imagined 1990 as the their last title.
It can happen quickly. With a few wrong choices relegation or struggle can really sneak up on a club.

Re: Not too big to fail
Debt is surely the big danger..Leeds, Pompey, Rangers, Fiorentina etc etc.
Debt brought them to their knees at one point.
So don´t worry about clubs that are in the red but are debtfree, basically they could just cut expenses and make a profit.
But debt are a slow death if it grows.
