But who knows.
Steve Cotterill could have been described as that, along with best note-taker. Means nowt.

I can remember when we were 3-0 down to Charlton (I think) and that berk was still scribbling away. ''That ship has sailed Steven"

I'll be disappointed if he goes there. One of my favourites as a player - I'll never forget that red card he took v Newcastle to stop a certain goal, ran practically the full length of the pitch to wipe Rob Lee out, knowing he was taking one for the team. Absolutely class.

I want him to succeed, but not Villa with Bent. I'll have mixed feelings.

Apparently he lives quite a humble life for someone in his position, and gives most of his wages to charity. Top man IMO.

certain jobs are poisonous in this league and not worth ruining a decent start to your career over.
You make an interesting point. There's a book by Marcotti and Vialli about the differences between managers in Italy and England.

One of the main points is that in england if a manager fails (eg Keane, Bothroyd, Dowie, Benitez, Curbishley etc) they are tarnished goods and most clubs dont take a chance on them.

In italy, in contrast, many managers have been given chance after chance to take on different jobs. They fuck up, get fired, and get another job. The theory is they have learned from their mistakes and are better managers.

Just look at the way liverpool fans are going on about AVB. In Italy, they'd think 'he fucked up at chelsea, but he may have learned lessons he wont repeat again'.

Thoughts? Solsjkaer will destroy his career in management by going to villa. Huge risk. Brendan rodgers saw this and kindly refused.
