So yes, for being anti-monarchy. The idea that in this day and age people should sing their allegiance to a monarch is embarrassing. I'm neither patriotic nor pro-monarchy, I don't see why I'd do anything different.

I've no idea why Liverpool were booing but that would be my reason.

National anthems are divisive because they're bound up in political and ideological presuppositions regarding an imagined community. Further to this you have to ask whether its entirely appropriate or necessary for the singing of a song which calls for an imagined omnipotent being to cast grace and health upon the head of an archaic institution which has no place in a progressive society before the start of a game of football.
