Apparently Bob Stokoe refused to shake Revie's hand at the 1973 cup final because he had tried to bribe him £40 to throw a game when Bob was manager at Bury (a decent sum at the time).

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Stokoe actually reported the incident to the bury chairman . Who told stoke to forget about it. Stokoe never forgave revie over that incident.

There's a decent book called 'Stokoe and 73' or something like that, goes into a bit detail about Stokoe and Revies past meetings prior to 73. Stokoe definately didnt like the man by all accounts. Well worth a read marra.

Revie Said to stokoe "I've got £ 500 in my pocket for you if you take it easy today ". Stokoe replied " not bloody likely "

Revie then asked " could I have a word with some of your playershe was told under no circumstances . A some what scorned was advised by his chairman to say nothing of the incident and go out and win the match

Stokoe has repeated this incident a few times over the years

It's in the book Sunderland & 73 Marra
