    On another note, 6 Music played the full length version of 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond' a few weeks ago. A great moment.

    Yes but didn't the radio stations (especially the pre Radio 1 light broadcasting era) dictate that a record couldn't last more than 3 minutes?
    Listen to Tony Blackburn's Saturday afternoon double top 20 programme and the vast amount of records played last less than 3 minutes.

    Tracks like Hey Jude and Bohemian Rhapsody caused a stir because of track length back in the day,radio stations weren't happy! On the other hand i much prefer the short version of 'American Pie' the long version does my head in!
