Re: Benched Barton courts controversy again (SEB??) - Possible FA Charge! HA HA!
He can do what he likes, I didn't go for a drink at half time so I was sat in the stand just watching the whole back and forth between him and the fans around him - as I sit in the South West and he was down that end for most of half time. The thing that probably irked me the most was him messing around in goals actually, but I assume he knew he had no chance of getting on unless there was an injury to the imperious Shaun Derry.
I found the whole 5-1 thing a bit of a laugh, he gave some, he got some, the QPR fans defended him, some of the QPR fans had a go at him, Samson even got involved and then there was the case of our fan running a half marathon to remind him of the current score. I'd be a bit bemused if one of our players was bragging to the opposition about a scoreline achieved with a team he engineered a move away from but I'm not going to try and pretend to understand Barton.
He's a cretin and I despise him but the game is probably better off for characters like him. The thing I don't like is that when he retires he'll still be around the game a lot, you know he'll be a pundit or a columnist (although most likely with the Mirror or Sun). It's all a bit of 'banter' as the saying goes I believe, and no one got hurt. Let's face it, we can't get precious over 5-1 these days, we - or at least I - hear it on such a regular occassion now it's easier just to laugh and walk away.

I found out on here at half time what he'd been doing and telt the lads that sit round is. Everyones reaction was basically the same-laughed and said something like "what a bellend that lad is"
People need to stop being so sensitive.

But Neville is a professional, and wouldn;t let the rivalry with Liverpool get in the way of playing for Man Utd. Barton, on the other hand, is taking the piss out of QPR, and the fact his biggest contributiuon on Saturday for his struggling side was winding up the home fans from the side of the pitch in relation to a game that happened 18 months ago for a team he does not have any real affiliation with, unlike Neville, says it all.
Barton is turning into a bit of a sad joke tbh.

I think it's great that footballers have a bit of banter with the punters.
Didn't see the 5-1 gesture but it is funny. His deliverance comments are funny in that it knocks off the pseudo intellectual veneer that he is trying to coat himself with.
The FA are a bunch of wankers to be honest.

Exactly, if we can dish it out to him then our fans should have big enough shoulders to take a bit back.
It's a bit if banter ffs and that steward who reported him is a pure jobs worth imo.

Exactly the reaction proper football supporters would have.

You must really rate Barton if you think the power of his mind can change a game, if he sat concentrating on the game. Perhaps his telekinetic powers could have kept moving the ball away from Sunderland.
Lets face it, if a player is on the bench then the game is out of their control. The place a player can make a difference is on the pitch. It is up to the manager to put the player there and up to the player to perform when given the chance. Sitting at the back of the dug out, there is nothing he can do, so why not have a bit of banter with the fans.
I remember standing in the main stand paddocks back in the day, where subs from both teams used to warm up. The football was dire back then, so the fans used to have some banter with both sets of subs. Made the game some days.

Unless you're watching from our side that is.

I beg to differ. I think it's hilarious. He's now more famous for being a tit on twitter than for anything he does on the pitch (if he ever gets back on it).

Re: Benched Barton courts controversy again (SEB??) - Possible FA Charge! HA HA!
I shouted a fair bit of abuse at Barton when he was doing the 5-1 sign but I'm not actually bothered by it, as people have mentioned we give him stick and he was giving some back, nowt the matter with that and in a way it livened the atmosphere up a bit, would hate to see football get to the point where opposition players never engaged in "banter" with the home fans. Just made it all the sweeter when we (pretty much) battered them, sending his new side a step closer to relegation.
Nothing for us to get upset over, I think its the QPR fans who have much greater reason for anger. Here's a player who is on good money but who responds to getting dropped for being utterly ineffective by winding up opposition fans about a result for his previous side instead of getting on with warming up and concentrating on QPR. He looks like he couldnt give a flying fuck about them and that, along with the laughing on the bench, will rightly have pissed them off. I couldnt really care less about it, he has just shown himself up yet again, the mans a car wreck and as for "[The] Deliverance" and "5under1and", well, at least my brother isnt a racist murderer, I think we'll always have the upper hand when it comes to "banter" with Barton
