I've a feeling that's what he's been told to do!
That's why he keeps doing it.

I'd do the total opposite, if the defender is showing him inside all the time then he should cut in on his right more often and head straight for goal.

He's already scored one with his right and I'd like to see the lad working even harder with his right foot - will cause defenders loads of problems if they can't simply double up and then show him inside.

The fact that two or three of the opposition are chasing after him creates space elsewhere. McClean is a class act!

He's a very direct winger, and I like that. We're just going to have to accept he's going to lose possession sometimes when his dribbles don't come off.
This with bells on. Yes he lost it a few times on Sat, but on the whole I love his directness. We just need the strikers to be on his wavelength more. Only Campbell looks like he can get on the end of some of his crosses.

On a side note, anyone else notice the rest of the team don't pass to him when he gets in some topper positions? Probably not used to a player hugging the touch line as much as he does.

It's a queer one this as i think in a couple of games prior to this one he was quiet, hanging back and really just doing his defensive duty which he does well. I wonder if someone had a word and told him to attack his full back again. I tend to agree that he maybe over did it a bit on Saturday but definitely should not be discouraged from doing so. It's a balancing act which he will hopefully perfect as he gains more experience at this level

Thought he was improved from a slight lull in form in previous weeks. Generally nothing to complain about with him though. When he's not much of an attacking threat he works so hard and is still an asset defensively. He beats a man and puts a cross in. Nothing to complain about at all from the lad.

I wouldn't mind seeing our wingers swop wings occasionally - just mix it up a little - both could cut inside and shoot

Agree with this, but he often cuts inside and is past the defender then decides to go wide again. If MON could get him to think a little more he'd be driving right into the box more often.

If the opposition put 2-3 men on him McClean he may have a frustrating game but that gives our other players room to play.

Especially Sess when he's on the pitch.
