People always say this, but after living here 5 years I think its nonsense. The thing the government have done is to instil this thought into the locals and then you really don't need to enforce it anymore.

This is a country where twice I have seen colleagues get speeding tickets - the first was given a warning and told not to do it again - the second had a very civil conversation on the phone with them claiming the camera was not placed correctly because of road-works. They promised to look into it and did - no fine.

Now, imagine any of that in the UK!

Tricky question to answer. Of those I've visited for long enough to make a decision...

    Cape Town
    London
    Barcelona
    Istanbul
    New York

Glasgow bubbling under and Rio the main disappointment.

Have to say I imagine it's a better place to live than it is to visit. Clean, safe etc etc but as someone else mentioned it's too bland for my liking, zoo and bait is canny though

    honourable mention for Rio.
Couple have said that and whilst I enjoyed it, I wouldn't have it up there as one of my favourites. Steaks and wine were fantastic though.

I had a mate who was living there when I went show me round etc. so it probably helped my experience markedly. Give it a beach and it'd be my favourite city by a long shot as it's got everything else IMO. Affordable, good bait, attractive locals, lives and breathes football, musueums, parks, varied neighbourhoods, transport wasn't too bad.

The whole pace of life in the neck of the world (Argentina, Uruguay, SE Brazil) suits lazy folk like me down to the ground n all.
