Re: Hatred or just friendly banter against the Mags?
Hate the bastards...No banter for me...just silence until game time....then the texting starts after every goal. We will not talk to each other for weeks....That's my brother-in-law from Newcastle for you!

Hate the club ..always have, however some fans are both family and good friends, so I suppose the banter is friendly in reality, but that doesn't take anything away from the detest of the club.

Hate the club; hate the fans as an entity, but not as individuals (family members and friends support them).

I can have general banter with Mag mates but as for the club as a whole, utter hatred.

Re: Hatred or just friendly banter against the Mags?
Let's be honest the reason we hate them so much is because of their arrogance. The reason they are arrogant is because for donkeys years they have largely been in the ascendency over us and whenever it looks as though we might overtake them we usually fail miserably. Because of this there is no banter, just arrogant put downs. Whenever I talk to most mags who I would class as reasonable they still have that edge to them. The 5-1 last season, followed by two insipid home games has really knocked my end in.
Whether we like it or not we are in their shadow and Sky will help to make sure that continues. I am 53 and have seen us beat them TWICE at our place in my life time. How can you have banter with a dreadful record like that?

Good post. It could be worse though, I know our record against them is a fucking mess but at least they have won nowt and give us plenty of moments of amusement.
In reality though, they usually have the upper hand purely because of their record against us. Our lack of European history compared to them hurts too.

it's pretty much banter with me, I have a lot of friends who support Newcastle but on derby day it really does turn to hatred

Well put marra,it still feels right and proper to take the moral high ground against them though,i just know in my heart of hearts we are better than them. I quite enjoy it when a couple of mag mates, who are generally ok start getting above their station,i find as a breed they are reasonably easy to outwit and put down, with arrogance comes great falability.
