Re: Best way to drive to chester?
I'd suggest a car but no doubt there'll be some clever clogs with a better idea

from Darlo
A1, M1, M62' M6, then the motorway than goes into Chester, can't remember the number but it's signposted.
Or just just on the A1 north and nip off on the A167 into the town centre, there a canny.market on. Wonder if the meat wagon stil gams there.

If the original poster is on about Chester-le Street There has not been a decent market there for about 15 years.

M56 - that's way I would normally go but the M6 is the much better option at the moment (then pick up M56), as there're 3 massive sets of roadworks with 50mph limits on the M62 in Leeds/Huddersfield areas, which cause long delays.

i travel to elesmere port every week from sunderland. Have tried several routes but this is best.
A66 (turn off at Brough castle onto another A road that i can't remember)
M6
M56 (M6 jct 21 - Lymm Interchange)
M53
I can do it in under 3 hrs easy and this route avoids the hell-hole that can be the M62.
