I don't think any advocates of a mid-season break argue that it will stop games being abandoned due to weather. I think we should have a break after the new year fixtures and start again at the beginning of March. This means we still get the popliar xmas games in and the games are off when, generally speaking, the worst weather conditions occur. It might mean England have a chance of actually winning a competition in the summer too.
