I think he may be going a bit stale under MicMac....i know it's a while ago but he did get 13 PL goals in 28 starts for Reading in 2007 and a 9 in 33 for Wolves in 2010.

It's possible that O'Neill could get a bit more out of him than he is currently showing.

You gone off Andy Johnson? You were banging his drum not so long ago.

Doyle will hold the ball up, I will give him that and that is what we need, although a few goals would be nice, which he is not so adept at.

Not sure he will tbh. What makes you think he does that well?

Decent first touch, does alright with his back to goal (which is not hard when you look at hs record facing the fucker)

I still think Johnson could do a job but given the length of time left in the window i'm content to speculate on players where there is a bit of substance to the rumours. As far as i know we've never been linked with Johnson.

But he can do it.....13 in 28 PL games for Reading a few years back. Let's be honest we just need a presence and a bit of experience up front atm.....Wickham and Ji just don't have either at the moment and Campbell ideally needs to be eased back.

I'm not fussed about Doyle particularly.....i would just as soon take Jelavic or Zamora...but i do think we need an experienced front man in.

13 goals (with 3 of them being from the spot) as a highlight of his career isn't that great.
He scored 7 goals for the last two seasons.
He's not a bad player, but he's not a prolific goalscorer, not a strong and tall target man and not much better than Campbell IMO.

The more I think about Doyle, the more I'd rather stick with what we have.

I wouldn't argue with you mate but if it was a straight swap for Gardner i think we would be better served by that.

We need somebody, Bendtner is a huge miss and what we have does not cut the mustard at the moment.

Rather give Campbell a run tbh.
