    Default Debit card payment

I got some work done on the daughter's (NO!) car on the 5th January, we're talking a couple of hundred quid so I paid with my debit card.

The bloke who took payment exact words were; I don't normally do this and thus far nothing has come out of the bank.

Do you think I've got away with it? I have to admit I won't be owning up if I have

Sounds like he's made a mistake.

Payments come out immediately and then show on a statement days later.

10 days seems a bit too long. Keep the money in there a while longer though just in case.

Which garage was this so I can go there next time my wife reverses into a lamppost?

Possibly. I will tell you that it can be regarded as theft if you have realised the error.

Take advantage, it would have come out by now. I wouldn't go back to the same place though.

I wouldn't count on it, it's been ten days, but you don't know how their debit system works. It might take two weeks to come out, although HIGHLY unlikely.

If nothing happens, just beware they might do their accounts at the end of the month and show up short for your payment and come asking for it, in which case you're obliged to pay it.

But as far as I know you're under no obligation to tell them about it, It will just be a fact. An ugly, moist fact, squatting on your brain like an octopus. And, you don't want an octopus squatting on your brain, do you, Son?

I pay for iTunes stuff on me debit card and it can take weeks before anything changes on my available balance, nevermind the money being taken out. Be careful.

I bought something in Mr Ashleys shop a few years ago and the payment took ages to come out.
