whatever happened to all those lads who took the piss out of boro in the seventies/early eighties?

i remember the vauxies from sunderland and just about every village/town in durham represented, also shields, jarrow, hebburn and other tyneside based nutters.
there was 50 seater coaches from all over the place all full of proper lads and drunk blokes. have they all just stopped going or grown out of it. i know footballs changed but the young pups following on don't seem capable in anyway whatsoever of doing what the previous generation did.
any visit away to boro was looked forward to with relish and the home games at roker were usually a massacre when they did turn up.
might be wrong but has our fanbase changed that much, they all still come from the same areas.

there will be loads of bother i reckon cos boro are one of them few mobs still very organised and actually very much into the scene. last few years times they have been here the have landed in town rediculously early (before any sign of police) and are always in 3s and 4s before grouping up.

absolute hell on in the car park when we played mid week in the cup, full on battle by the rail tracks the year williams scored our winner and there was also a bit bother after we drew 1-1 doww there last time when sunderland lads kicked the fire exits open to get out when the police were keeping us back.

edit: just remembered the 1st game after we moved to the SoL. fucking hell, sunderland were all over them outside the south stand. lads with fuck off planks of wood lamping away!

That was bad like. Hundreds if not thousands waiting outside and as soon as boro came out every fucker charged at them. Bottles, planks, everything they could get their hands on. I remember a lad in a sunderland shirt and yellow cap, always wears that, from soutwick, standing over a boro lad with a plank of wood and taking aim like a golf club. Hell of a whack

aye, we could see loads leaving the west stand/swc about 10 mins before full time. by the time we got round the south stand it was absolute mayhem. its looked a bit like a braveheart scene. sunderland using planks of wood and stuff as boro were either trying to get back inside or were get twatted!

Same here mate, been to loads (20 plus easy) and never had any bother whatsoever, but you probably dont go looking for trouble either.

Incredible how the vast majority of normal people manage to go to the match, support their team, enjoy the atmosphere and then go home without seeing a punch thrown.

Same as on a night out, if you go looking for bother like some idiots on here obviously like to, then you are gonna be able to find it.

As for the boro idiots deserving respect cos they are proper hard, fuck off. Any moron who goes looking for trouble deserves total disdain.
