    Default Wigan's David Jones

Very impressed with him last night and on a number of occasions this season. Stats at the end in the pub showed he ran the biggest distance last night (for what it's worth), although you might expect that given he was operating as a wing back.

In fact, I was impressed with a few of their players. They're just powder puff up front and obviously have serious problems at the back.

I cannot believe they persist with 3 at the back. They're nowhere near good enough, they score nowhere near enough goals to offset the defensive frailties.

It would seem that martinez completely ignores long established principles when working with a poor side - namely, that you first have to make yourself hard to beat. (Which is exactly what MON has done)

Some nice touches and passing moves but they are generally absolutely shite.

The only players I would have from their squad at a push are Al-Habsi and Moses.

He seems to be playing 3-4-3, which is particularly risky given it can expose you in midfield as well as at the back. They did keep the ball well and created some chances, and tbf to Martinez, its since changing to that system that they've been on a decent run. I reckon he's treating Wigan as a bit of a testing ground for his footballing philosophy, which is no bad thing for him personally, but perhaps not great for Wigan.

I wouldn't have Al-Habsi. We already have three very good goalkeepers and Al-Habsi is better than none of them.

Diame, Moses and McCarthy would be worth a punt but the rest of their team lacks any quality.

I thought Jones was shite personally, looks uncomfortable on the ball at times

Really? I thought he got forward well and did some decent stuff in and around our box. One of the ones to hit the post wasn't he?
