email from hmrc
got an e-mail saying i am owed money for overpaying tax, i've heard of people getting letters but never e-mail's is this a scam or any know of someone who has had one of these.

Definite scam DO NOT reply. HMRC will only ever contact you by post.

I had one earlier in the year and checked it outand HMRC ONLY contact you by post |

Sounds kosher mate. Get your bank details filled in and you'll probably get 10,000,000 rupees paid into your account.

Ask yourself did you ever give them your email address? That should give you the solution and anyway they dont do business by email.

aye just googled a couple of things and found this http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/security/examples.htm dirty bassa's looked legit as well.
