Just been for a ride. Only 25 miles but it was great to get some miles into my legs. Pace was slow which was what I needed. Went out with my mate who was on a full suss MTB with massive knobblies, he really struggled but enjoyed it!

I'm down with the bloody lurgy again. Only started to get back out after op & previous bout of lurgy, and I'm out of action again! Bugger. I might as well have just put the bike away in Oct for all the miles I've been getting in.

That's what I fancy. Start a bit further up, om the Scottish border. (Got a mate up there, sussing if there's a quiet road or bridleway but it looks like we may have to do about 1/4 of a mile on the A1 but there's a wide shoulder)
Then either follow the coast down and either through the tunnel or Shield ferry. Paul wants to finish at Noocassel though.

Aye, that sounds decent ... berwick to Newcastle (not that I'd stop there like) is only about 35 - 40 per day I reckon ... we could bung a bit more on. How about North Berwick instead of Berwick. The train stops there and you can follow the coast a canny bit I reckon. Unless you're planning on driving up? I'm just carrying all I need ... it's only one night.

    Why's he going to Newcastle?

    Not sure?
Train up, carry what we need, would be logistically simple. Being April we won't need a lot of water. Do you think it would be do-able with a decent backpack. Or would we need paniers? We only really need carry a pair of is underwear, jeans and a T shirt above our normal cycling stuff.

I'll just hoy it in a backpack - I lump enough shite around anyway so a pair of shreddies, jeans, a toothbrush and a t-shirt isn't going to make any difference.
