Any yes you will fly compared to a MTB, as for pedals, shoes, helmets etc there are loads of online bargains about.
what are the spec's of those three bikes ?
The black one looks best but depends on groupset/wheels etc.
Got to be a Cube ?
Bit of a Dolan fan myself

I know! I know!
And yes, the Focus all stealthy and nice is the one I want, but of course it's the most fucking pricey
http://www.sigmasport.co.uk/Product/...cycle-2012.asp
I'll do it to myself:
Oh! look at me, I'm spending 2K on a bike.
pathetic.
Right, now that's out of the way ...
It looks nice as owt but I'll have to sign up for sportives and shite then ignore people ... I don't think I could join a club as I don't like the general public. Unless there's lasses! will there be lasses?

nice that bike mind....going for Compact ?
No rules about joining a club..I'm sure you can find loads of people in the smoke to ride with.
A fair few on this board seem to be into their cycling

Yeah, I've decided that if I admit I'm too old or weak to go compact then I shouldn't be fucking about anyway and it'd be best to buy a rug and slippers.
I think Redhill club is probably one of the bigger ones around here, but looking at their website I just got the impression ... cocks! that's probably just me though, and they do road and MTB so it might be worth a dodge along, maybe.

I like the Focus mind, very similar spec. and my MTB is a Focus - I'm loyal where my stable is concerned!
When I get one I'm going to sign up to the Northern Cyclone so I can try and keep up with me main men, Percy and Hulkster. Team SMB!
Worked out the commute thing - every other week I can drive in Tuesday then ride home, in and home Wednesday, in and home Thursday and in on Friday then drive home ... that's 180 every other week on top of any other rides I do, so I should get up to speed quickly enough, and I'll save petrol (fuck the environment ) so it pays some money back.

I'm right at the tipping point of making my decision. I know the feeling, I've had it regularly and don't know why I even pretend that I'm not going to act on it - I use the reasoning that I'll need to buy pedals, roadie shorts ( ), a new helmet and roadie shoes as the subduing aspect.
I'm in turmoil!

If you've already got a MTB with SPD pedals I wouldn't bother with road shoes, just put SPD's on your road bike and then you just need one set of shoes. Also MTB shoes are easier to walk in...

Aye, but I like buying new things I've got a spare set of SPD pedals so could do that as an interim measure.

You've never seen me trying to plumb in and fit a bathroom with a screwdriver, a spanner and a spoon! (and they're not nicknames for different nationalities).
