The difference between the mags and us...
...could be summed up by some of the threads on this board.
Had the mags been going down the pan under an inept gaffer, fired him and appointed Martin O'Neill, they would have been unbelievably full of it. They would, on the whole (and I accept all teams have different sorts of supporters), have been incredibly upbeat, proclaimed him a messiah and have been spouting off about what they were going to achieve under him etc etc.
Whereas many SAFC fans seem to be looking for negatives already or are shit scared about it going wrong before he's been in charge one game.
I know we've seen some shit in the past, but FFS, if it goes wrong, it goes wrong and we pick up the pieces, as we always do.
Just have a bit of faith in a guy whose track record is superb and believe for fucking once. This guy hasn't failed at any club he has been at, so why now?
Rant over.
P.S. and no, I'm not a mag. Check my posting history and if in doubt, Nick666 will confirm.

Re: The difference between the mags and us...
Someone summed it up on here well early tonight saying that SAFC fans are like an abused dog which has been brought in from the cold by a new owner but is still terrified it'll get punched in the face.
Years of shite have knocked our confidence to virtually zero, we're conditioned to expect (and usually get) the worst.

It's not a case of not being upbeat, mate. I'm confident we'll see a massive change and a bright new era. It's just I'd rather be quietly confident about it so that if Sunderland keep up their uncanny record of building my hopes up and letting me down, I don't look like an idiot after shooting my mouth off about how good thing were going to be.
The Mags would be more openly upbeat I reckon but that's the exact reason their support is a joke up and down the country and what makes it even funnier when they fail. Just wait till their bubble bursts and they start to crumble, you'll see what I mean.

I'm not saying we should be exactly like those bastards, but it would be nice to have a bit more positivity and faith. I don't care what anyone says, our current team isn't as bad as made out, and with a striker or two in January and a gaffer that could actually inspire and motivate them, we'll be ok this season. Bruce couldn't inspire a fart from a vegetarian on a brussel sprouts diet.

Correct.
In fact, the sludge at the bottom of the barrel now appears to make up a significant proportion of the posters on here.
