i wonder if he's trying to prove a point to Short ? we bought Bent and he built a team round him and we were 6th, the club sells him, we bought Gyan, Bruce buys the team he thinks to build around him and the club let him go out on loan, maybe thats why he wont be sacked ?

He is a manager that has been almost ritually humiliated at other clubs. He was at Birmingham when he relegated them, had his own captain going into the press slagging him off, was offered a contract that was then withdrawn when they were being taken over by new owners that didn't want to touch him with a bargepole.

He has never resigned from a job in his life except when he has had another job to go to.

He has no pride that will lead him to resign, under any circumstances. He didn't get to be the 9th richest manager in football without ever getting above 10th in the Premiership without signing on fees and payoffs from clubs he has managed poorly.

Who on this earth would walk away from a job where you'd get no compensation? He will no doubt get millions if sacked. As much as I love my club I really don't blame him for not walking, I'd stay and take the money and anyone who says they wouldn't are either a blatant liar or insane!

Partly the club's fault for jumping in with an over-the-top new contract when the going was good. It will simply cost a fortune to get rid now.

In Bruce's eyes he will be thinking he can still turn the situation around, but it looks to have gone too far now.
