Now they're properly knackered. This could be the start of them leaving the euro...maskes a mockery of the last 18 months.

It will interesting to see Merkel and Sarkozy's response to this. Why cant they just put their hands up and admit monetary union has been a failure and put in place a staged plan for a reversion to national currencies.
The EU still needs to exist but not in its current political state. Merkel's unification comments last week sort of scupper that though.

Well that my view anyway. I'm moving to Greece when all of this blows over with a suitcase full of Drachma's

No mate, they haven't voted yet. Part of me wants them to fuck the thing off, but part of me thinks we need to try and get some stability first before any reforms are suggested.

Amazing how they can organise a referendum so quickly, where as we couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery over here.

yes we could do it in a week however the sense of confusion usually surrounding things like that serves a better purpose, like it ends up people cant be bothered to vote after all the rigmarole so we end up with the status quo

They may well do. They don't see they have done anything wrong. Why should they have to change the way they have always lived. You can see their point. They hated the fucking Euro when it came in. The rounding up of prices that went on, coupled with the extra "tax" they had to pay to fund the Olympics didn't go down well, so fuck knows how they will cope with austerity packages.

seems to me,that they are engineering a way out. It is the devil and the deep blue see for Greece.

Greece depends on tourists to survive and joining the euro pumped the cost of living up and costs to tourists.

It does appear that the greek politicians are bottling out of making a decision and washing their hands.

The euro leaders that created the euro need to hang their heads in shame as their greed made them ignore the rules.
