Decent hotels in Singapore

My daughter (no) is off on her travels next year and is doing a couple of days stopover in Singapore.

Anyone know any decent, but cheap, hotels? Also any ideas of things to do and see while she's there?

I stayed on Sentosa which was nice but weird (It was like Disney doing Ibiza sort of thing). There is a universal studios there now as well so I'm sure the prices have gone up but I stayed at the Amara Sanctuary Resort for about £500 a night (which is the sort of price you are looking at for singapore).

We stayed at the Pan Pacific at suntech city, just back from the Marina. Cracking hotel, great views if the city and the new Sands complex.

Been 5 years since I was last there but found accommodation very well priced. Can't remember the name but stayed in a great place in Chinatown for next to nowt.

Nowhere's cheap, but that's not bad ... decent tourist location and simple dressed up as chic loft living. A lot cheaper than a proper Millenium. I stayed at the YMCA before (oooh, behave!) which was nearly as expensive and shite, left after a night.

She can go to Sentosa (Universal Studios theme park and manmade beaches), the zoo on a night safari, little India, four floors(!), shopping, eating, drinking and generally thinking "blimey, its hot".
