Default Why Do SAFC fans leave early more so than other fans?

Before I start I realise some people have very good reasons for leaving early; so I dont wish to pick on individuals or ask individuals to "explain themselves" and I'd rather this message wasnt merged with posts criticising fans for leaving early.....I fully appreciate everyone pays their money and is entitled to do whatever they like as long as its within the rules of the Stadium.

However, on a macro scale, why do we leave early in much greater numbers than other clubs fans? The very reasonable explanations such as cutting travel time, getting back for the kids, getting back for work etc etc should surely impact Stoke, Man City, Liverpool and Reading fans equally; but with these clubs only very few leave the game before the whistle; and there is a very obvious relationship between the result / performance and the number who remain at the end.

But with Sunderland - win, lose or draw there is a very large minority who leave. What is it with Sunderland? Do we have a high number of fans living in outlying areas (eg. Bishop Auckland, Teeside etc), has traffic outside the stadium really been consistently worse than other clubs over the years? Or is there something else?

If I was a Stoke fan and someone asked me about Sunderland the first thing I'd mention is, despite being 4-0 up, loads of the fans left around 5 minutes before the final whistle

Because we don't score late goals anymore like in Keano's reign...
    No need to stick around..

I've never understood it, i know it's up to the individual but surely half the crowd havent got something to rush out for?

Most of them stand on the stairs and in the accesses anyway.

I'm not sure Opta compile stats such as this

Its based on going to away matches and going to home matches. We leave in greater numbers than other teams fans.

Often its not something you notice on telly/at an away game, except Blackburn, where fans leave across the front and can be seen heading home with quater of an hour left most weeks.

Its commonplace, not saying its right however. I sit on an aisle now so Im out of the ground 20 seconds after the final whilstle. In the NE corner, however, at the back, it could take 10 minutes, that may be why many head to the exits and watch the dying minutes from a gangway.

DID YOU KNOW?... Bloke next to me has a mate who has a parking space near the main entrance. For public safety the barriers go down on 80 minutes so he goes home on something like 76 minutes every game. What a twat!

I don't think they do tbh, it's the way the stadium has been designed, there's no exits at the back of the stands, if there was, those leaving early wouldn't even be noticed, they weren't at Roker.

I sit in almost at the back of the upper tier in the lower bowl. Right in the middle of an aisle. I wait til it clears a bit, then leave when it has. I leave the ground about 5 minutes after the players have gone down the tunnel.

Are people really that impatient that they'd rather leave 5-10 minutes early than wait 10 minutes after? I have a bit crack on about how we've got on in them 5-10 minutes after i've clapped the lads off the pitch.
